Dear Parents and Students,
Before Jesus our Lord ascended to heaven he commissioned the eleven disciples to:
“Go, therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age.” (Mt. 28: 19-20).
The church is duty bound to carry out the Lord’s command. One of the most important ways in which the church fulfills this responsibility is through her religious education classes. A disciple of Jesus is a follower of his teaching. Our religious education classes are designed to help us understand and follow the teachings of Jesus. They help put us in touch with our Lord and all that he taught. The goal of religious education is to make us all good disciples of our Lord. This is a challenging task for all involved.
Parents and students, your openness, your cooperation, and your patience in this effort are all important. As baptized Christians we all make a commitment to open our hearts and minds to Jesus. As members of the Lord’s church we work together and cooperate with each other to help build the Kingdom of God. Let us make every effort to be good followers of Jesus and students of his teaching. Let us not be anxious or afraid, as Jesus says, he is with us always “until the end of the age.”
Yours in Christ,
Father Gordy Carvalho
