Curriculum

GENERAL INFORMATION

St. John’s Catholic Preschool provides a quality Catholic, Montessori Education for children 2 years 8 months- through 6-years of age. Our preschool specializes in providing a nurturing, safe environment where children can grow spiritually, physically, emotionally, morally, and intellectually. It is a prepared environment where caring teachers foster honesty, integrity, responsibility, respect, cooperation and independence. Using Jesus as our Master Teacher, we strive to help each child develop to his or her potential.

The child to teacher ratio is 12 to 1 or less.

PROGRAMS

Our traditional school year runs mid-August to May or early June. Our Summer School session runs seven or eight weeks from mid-June to July.

Programs offered are Monday through Friday:

Half Day     

8:00 a.m. to 12 Noon Montessori 

School Day 8:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m. Montessori + nap

8:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m. Extended Montessori K4/K5 

Full Day

6:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m. Extended Day Montessori with nap

6:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m. Extended Day Montessori K4/K5

 

Each program includes snacks (mid-morning and mid-afternoon), a daily schedule of Circle Times, Outdoor Play Time, and “Free Choice” Work Time. Every day is filled with songs, stories, and prayers. Children are continually encouraged to explore the various experiential Learning Centers with the teachers as guides.

    ENRICHMENTS

    Our daily curriculum is enhanced by our Music Enrichment program every Monday and our Religion Enrichment program every Friday. The children learn about Music through hands-on activities including playing instruments, singing, dancing, and clapping notes.  They learn about our Catholic faith through the use of songs, stories, and puppets.
